Data + Dating

Season 1 | Episode 3

Dating apps and websites use a ton of data to create connections. In this episode, we take a close look at Tinder - an app that uses data very differently than many popular dating websites such as eHarmony, OkCupid, and Match. Allison and Mike, two users of dating sites, take us through their experiences in the online dating world while we put Tinder to the test to explore the role that data plays in dating, and how people make sense of the mass of connections they make. How is the nature of the connections made different from one app to another?

Data + Homelessness

Season 1 | Episode 2

Data and homelessness. What does one have to do with the other? In this episode, we meet a woman who lived in a tent, on and off, for 18 years, and introduce the place that ultimately found her a permanent home. We discuss our own understanding of homelessness and talk to the people who are working to develop the tools and practices that, with the help of data, just might eliminate the epidemic of homelessness forever.
